The forged VERTEX GP Racer Choice forged piston is designed for the KTM 450 SX F from 2016 to 2022. Its design was tailored to the requirements of performance-oriented 4T engines and combines a reinforced piston structure with specifically revised details.

Function and construction

The shape of the piston crown supports a more favorable flame front and is designed to achieve the maximum permissible compression ratio. Reinforcements stiffen the piston structure and reduce piston crown deformation under full load. A surface treatment serves to reduce friction.

The short piston pin has a DLC (Diamond Like Carbon) coating. The locking ring with an external nose counteracts twisting at high speeds. The extra-thin GNH piston ring made of gas nitrided steel increases wear resistance.
